Family members in Thae Pyu village fill containers and pots with water at a communal water point in the late afternoon. Before the project people had to walk 30 minutes to the creek to collect water. Ma Aye Win when interviewed wass thrilled with the project which built a water thank in the middle of their village, easily accessible for all. Thae Pyu village is extremley poor, from the 33 households only 3 had functioning toilets before the CBHR project. A major part of the project is community education. Red Cross Volunteers from each community regularly run awareness campaigns throughout their village and regularly visit school where they use songs and poems to educate children about water and sanitation, first aid and disaster risk reduction.
